#151 12 gauge blues

12 gauge blues was my band when i lived in St.Louis Mo.
It started in 1998 and lasted until 2003. We played lots of shows at dive bars , "punk" venues, basements and nightclubs....We all had Jobs so the furthest we traveled was Columbia, mo..
It was all for fun and artistic expression ,although we liked getting paid, it rarely happened.
I miss performing but I have some really good memories.

follow this link to hear a 1999 recording of
"Still wanna die" by 12 gauge blues
originally performed by Cheetah Chrome and Jeff Dahl

These are 2 Actresses from Andy Warhol movies. I went to a really big Andy Warhol retrospective at the Stelijk museum CS. It had 80 or so movies and videos projected onto big white walls. A lot of the films were just 15 or 20 minutes of a single persons face talking or staring . Like a video potrait. I had my sketchbook with me and drew some of the faces.... these were the only ones i liked

Jert in Amsterdam

Last fall i bookended my trip to the Kruger workshop with stays in Amsterdam.
I did a lot of drawing at the hostel I stayed at of strangers and tourists. I will post this series of drawings every other day over the next few weeks.

This banner is in the middle of a family friendly shopping complex much like an american mall. I love the european popular attitude toward nudity.

krokett anyone?

this is a drawing out of my sketchbook of two coked up, drunk britts bullying their hippy coworker at the bulldog hostel in the Red Light district. The bald one caught me drawing it and made a big loud scene. Luckily everyone in the group liked it and they insisted on having it. I drank all night with them and they insisted on buying all my drinks. The hippy sounded just like "neil" from the "young ones"....He told me that he arranges his records by color...."sometimes a record just sounds blue...or red...y'know".
maybe he deserved to be bullied a little bit.

#131.....rejections

These guys all acted like they were caricature connoisseurs, They where like "We get these done wherever we go, we like the funny crazy ones, so tear us apart." Rejects don't normally bother me but It IS annoying when the customer plays Silly little rejection games (anyone who does live retail caricature knows what I'm talking about). These 2 were total pussies about it....they laughed a ton at the drawing when I showed it to them, they happily paid and took the drawing on their merry way. They then came back to the caricature stand after I had gone home for the day and asked for their money back. They bellyached that I was the worst artist they had ever seen and the guy said that my drawing had hurt his feelings. A grown man that paid me money to make fun of his face, encouraged me to go wild, and told me how much he loved his other crazy park caricatures acted like i ruined his day by hurting his feelings ....

this guy on the other hand ,asked to see the drawing in black and white, said he didn't like it ,and walked away........I can respect that, no crybaby weirdo crap.
