#131.....rejections

These guys all acted like they were caricature connoisseurs, They where like "We get these done wherever we go, we like the funny crazy ones, so tear us apart." Rejects don't normally bother me but It IS annoying when the customer plays Silly little rejection games (anyone who does live retail caricature knows what I'm talking about). These 2 were total pussies about it....they laughed a ton at the drawing when I showed it to them, they happily paid and took the drawing on their merry way. They then came back to the caricature stand after I had gone home for the day and asked for their money back. They bellyached that I was the worst artist they had ever seen and the guy said that my drawing had hurt his feelings. A grown man that paid me money to make fun of his face, encouraged me to go wild, and told me how much he loved his other crazy park caricatures acted like i ruined his day by hurting his feelings ....

this guy on the other hand ,asked to see the drawing in black and white, said he didn't like it ,and walked away........I can respect that, no crybaby weirdo crap.

The LA crowd seems big on being picky.

I agree Bill...it's that "Valley-Girl" mentality.

These folks were from actually from georgia...I found the California crowd far more tolerable than the "southern" crowd believe it or not.

This pisses me off just reading it!

Even when they don't tell you to tear into them, it seems like license enough to do go a little crazier than usual when they say they've done a bunch of these. You hurt his feelings?! Awww...I love sensitive boyfriends. What a woman.

Wow, I though LA had the picky ones. Course I have some buddies that worked King Dominion in Virginia and all they had are horror stories.

Well dude that's what you get for doing your job.

You have far more experience in the matter than I do, but I've found what a lot of customers say has little meaning. Social demographic, dress style and most importantly body language tend to be the best indicators.

It is true that they may have gotten several caricatures done and loved them all, but there's a good chance they could have been all cute or in offensively generic drawings.

The public just doesn't think like us. They have a completely different concept of what we do.

That said, I hate the melodramatic acts a lot of customers put on.

Hahahahah it hurt his feelings, I would have loved to hear that from a guy that looked like that.

You should have taken a pic of him when he came back to you red nosed and teary eyed.

Its the "pussy lip" lips you gave the dudes that frightened them. Maybe if you draw a penis instead he would have been happy cause then he'd look like the dick head he is.

great stuff Jeremy. Ilove your work.

I know exactly what you are talking about, with the people that act like they get these all the time, and say tear me up, then come back when you are gone, telling the other artists that you’re terrible - give me my money back, etc. Its such b-s.
